Extend the Warranty On Your G

View photo gallery. The Casio GW-300 is solid, practical watch for people who are more interestedin ruggedness and durability than elegance. It's not the last watch you'll everbuy, or the only watch you'll ever need, but if you're looking for a tough, affordabledigital watch, the GW-300 is a good candidate.Features of the GW-300 G-Shock include:Solar powered ("Tough Solar," as Casio calls it). The GW-300has a rechargeable battery and two discreet solar cells at the top and bottomof the face which are used to replenish the battery. That means unlessyou're a hermit and live in a cave, you're watch will never be withoutpower.Atomic timekeeping ("Waveceptor," as Casio callsit). Store up to 30 different "snapshots" ofthe time including month, day, hour, minutes, seconds and the daylight savingsmode by pressing a button. Interesting feature. Use it to record the exacttime an event occurs. Seems useful for people like firefighters, police, etc.Five Alarms. I don't want to get into the specifics of charging times in this review (theyare documented very thoroughly in the manuel), but I will say that the solar-poweredfeature works very well, and as I said before, unless you live in a cave, it'snot something you'll have to worry about. In other words, wearing the GW-300does not mean having to start scheduling daily watch sunnings in order to keepit running. I have found that it keeps sufficiently charged just with day-to-day(or even occasional) use, as long as the power saving function is enabled. Four standard daily alarms, and one "snooze" alarmwhich keeps going off every five minutes until you actually go into alarmmode and disable it (as opposed to just pressing a button and turning itoff). I really like this feature. I've used it keep reminding me it's timeto go to bed.Hourly time signal.Stopwatch. Display range of 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59.99seconds. Measures elapsed time, split times, and two finish times.Electro-luminescent backlight. Nice and bright, greenishblueish in color.
